I have two games running, a Barca game to learn the system and play with effective teams and I recently started a game with San Marino (Serie C1/B). A somewhat limited transfer kitty (14K I believe) There's so many very average players and no known names, it's very hard to focus.

So, what do you guys do when confronted with this?

Are there formations which you should focus on (e.g. some formations are too "subtle/advanced" to work in a squad of no-name footballers?)

Do you sort by value or by attributes?

Do you build around your strongest player or do you attempt to fill up the gaps with good free signings/loans/the odd transfer?

Do you focus on one particular area above all others (e.g. all energy is devoted to finding the perfect Striker, Goalie, DMC, whatever?)

my advice is to go through the free transfers with the intrest saying no and offer each person a contract and you might sign better players than you would expect and also look at signing a few youngsters.

Look at all the free transfers available then look for players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season. Also make enquiries for players who arent playing games for their side, he may not be of any use to the team and they may give him up to you for free.

I've gotten a few ok players; it's difficult but not impossible to get agreement over some decent players with the clubs (valued at around 50K for free! Wooohooo!)

It's a whole different thing to entice decent players to actually join your side with only 4.5K maximum per player per week.

Another question: how do you decide on a formation? Does a team of "simpletons" (my most valuable players are a 110K striker and a couple of decent (Defensive) midfielders valued around 40-80K. Actually, I consider just about any player over 3K as a star player

Keep in mind, I play San Marino in Serie C1/B where the board has indicated that avoiding relegation is what we should be shooting for!

Note: right now, I've stuck to the Sweeper formation but that's not really bringing me what I want. Basically, I don't get many passes completed (often around 50%) and not many chances up front. Though my key striker is slow, he has decent Movement and 1337 sh007ing skillz (18 shooting), so I do score the occasional goal (3 draws in the league, couple of losses and a victory in the Serie C Cup). Hmmm, maybe a more midfield oriented tactic perhaps?
