I take it Ackter with Newcastle you just play a 442. What settings do you use for Newcastle.
The reason I ask is that I have just started a new game with Newcastle and after 6 games have still to win a game. I signed C. Davies as my main player from my budget and supplemented my squad with my old favourites including Torre, Dos Santos, Kerlon, Fabio and Rafael. I'm sure it is just teething difficulties but I usually play 442 with short passing, offside trap and normal emphasis.
My starting 11 is almost identical although I have started with Milner rather than Solano. Just today was thinking that I should probably play direct pasiing for my strikers to run into space.
Oh it's very hard winning with Newcastle in the short term.
I used to play a succesful 451 until Sparky Vaughan had a go at me for not scoring many goals. I then changed to a 433 and scored even less.
In the end I changed to a regular 442, kept things simple and the goals started coming in. It's just a matter of experience and finding what works with certain players.
Usually I play attacking, direct with individual instructions based on player attributes.
Newcastle is proving to be a challenge especially with Owen, Duff, Emre and Parker out for varying lengths of time with long term injuries. Owen out for 7 months - ouch.
The problem is I am just not scoring. My defensive record is great and my central 3 of Given, Taylor and Davies are just about watertight. In 20 premiership games I have only conceded 12 goals. My overall average is o.6p/g.
My scoring stats are appalling though and in 20 premiership games I have only scored 14 goals. ahhhh. I am currently sitting 12th in the league but I am only 7 points of 5th place. I have a few 1-0 wins but a lot of 0-0 draws and too many 0-1 losses. I have only lost more than 1 goal 3 times all away to Wigan, Tottenham and Man Utd.
I have had some great results though including a 0-0 at home with Chelsea and a 1-0 win at Anfield. I have qualified for the last 32 in the UEFA cup and in the semi-finals of the league cup. I have just won 2-1 away from home at Highbury.
So apart from more goals and a bit more consistency in the premiership i would be having a good season. Well no because the fans are calling for my head but the Board is standing by me. Is this the beginning of the end?
Any tips as to what I can do? I suppose winning the league cup would help immensly but will it be enough to get to the final (expected opposition Liverpool). I have some great Bosmans coming in including Ben Afra, Tuncay, Reo Coker and others and believe if I can see out this first season and get rid of the deadwood I will be alright.
Does anyone know how loyal the Board are likely to remain?
