ok, im about to finish my first season as liverpool. i've just hit april and am 2nd in the premiership, have won the supercup, the world club, the league cup, and am doing well in the CL.

however, have totally muddled through, and now come the summer will be looking to make wholesale changes to fit into the new system i am employing. i'll give you a rundown of who i am currently employing in the starting eleven:

gk : reina
SW : agger / carragher
D: riise, hypia, kromkamp, kompany
m: alonso, sissoko, gerrard / garcia
st: cisse, morientes

the only other player i hired was zalayeta. not bad, but not consistant with the goals. i am probably going to offload him in the summer, along with fowler, crouch, maybe morientes, and a bolt load of kids. hammans already gone, and finnan wants out, as does dudek and traore, and carson is borderline.

so anyway, given my formation and positions, who would you recommend? i need back up for all key positions, and im not entirely sure what the finances are going to be like.

It really does depend on finances. And the vast majority of players in FM aren't 100% consistent regardless of their stats so there's always room for poor ratings, which makes the game both more realistic and harder when buying players.

Personally I'd offload players with poor average ratings at the end of the season. I've never been a fan of Sissoko myself either in game or in real life, so he'd be the first I'd look at. Morientes's stats are good though I thought Toure's stats were good too in FM, I'll have to check later.

Though from your success and current players there it doesn't sound like yer doing too badly at all.

It doesn't look like you're playing wingers with just 3 in midfield, so it may be best to look for another AMC to replace/backup Sissoko (note: Gerrard is too good to be squad rotation IMO ), a player with good Decisions, Passing, Creativity, and the most important aspects for me when looking for any player - work rate, teamwork, determination, pace, composure, concentration and possibly aggression if possible. There arep layers with all these stats that you should be able to find for a successful Liverpool team by season 2.

Morientes is good, but I'd look to replace him (or low scoring/game ratio strikers) with a real quality striker. Collins John usually does the business for me in my Portsmouth team (if you can shine in that side, yer good IMO ), he usually costs 'bout £9million though, but scores quite a few.

Carlos Tevez is very good but very unprofessional so I'd think twice about getting him unless you're prepared to deal with his ocassional hissy fits and poor performances.

There's a guy at Hereveen in Holland if I remember right who scores a fair few, I got him for £5million for Pompey. Can't remember his name at the mo though sorry, but think he plays for them. I definitely know he's an AMR/ST and I think he's 28, though play him as Striker.

Kompany's stats are good (a little too good if you ask me ) but I've often wondered is he reliable enough?

Look in the good players forum, the PC players should be good on the 360.

cheers for the advice. have picked up or two belters. with regards to sissoko, i know you dont rate him much, but he's just picked up player of the year for my team, as well as second in the national young player of the year. i nthe system i have been using, he has been exceptional.

kromkamp. i couldnt believe how good the guy has been actually. really surpirsed me. he has been soley responsible for both finnan and traore requesting transfers. will he put in 7/8 out of 10 performances every week? no, but he will drop below that maybe once a month. and when you're playing 70 odd games a season, thats not bad going. he ended up averaging around 7.6 at the end of the season. his crosses and through balls have easily been rivalling riise, if not alonsos in terms of quality

Hmmm, interesting. Well, Sissoko and Kromkamps' consistency sound good to me too.
That's what ya should really look for, consistency. Unfortunately there's no way to judge this without watching a player for a while, by which time it can be too late.

I used to try my hand at stat updates for the PC versions of FM, so I've seen some consistency ratings. I think Raul is 10/11, though in the 360 version he's been great for me in my Real game so far.
