SI, am I wrong in that Euro qualifying means nothing to players?
I get the sense that they don't. I just won the serie A and the league cup with Livorno in my first season (my boy Lucerellli tore up the league). I did my homework before I started the season and bought John Obi-Wan Mikelbi. Of course he did very well and won Italy's young player award. And as expected at the end of season Milan, Juve and Inter began sniffing around for him. By the end of June they've all tabled bids and John has stated he's "achieved all he can at the club" Hello! Regardless of how ambitious a player is, they don't walk out on their club after the first seaon that was a huge sucess. How could he actually achieve everything when we just qualified for europe for the first time? I've noticed this pattern throughout the game. Players don't recognize that a club has qualified for europe, especially Champions Leauge. I really believe the game needs to have a short-term atractiveness rating or be able to recognize when a club is on the rise. CL qualification should play a significant role if your star players want to stay or leave as well as atrracting new signatures.
SI am I wrong in this understanding and belief?

Unfortuently the majority of players are not loyal to a club. In this case you have had one season of sucess but now the big boys who will always be challenging for the league what to sign him.
Many clubs who have had overnight success usually then sell there top players as the big clubs what them. Its part and parcel of a team punching above there weight.

The sad fact is that the game is mainly about money nowadays, naturaly FM has to reflect that.
And Ironic that you should choose Obi Mikel, I mean with the Chelsea, Man U debacle, you can hardly says he's the ambassador for loyalty.

LOL, well said.
I just keep hold of my players, tuff luck. I, as the manager, decides who comes and goes not the players. Be ruthless!!
However, i will let a player go if i can find a better, younger one for cheaper. For instance, my keeper at Recife 'Igor' was doing well in the state championships (one of the easiest pre-season leagues ever!) and clubs were offering millions for him when he was only worth £300k if that. I sold him and brought in someone else.
With your situation, i'd hold on to him for at least one more season, he may not perform as well but if you do and guide your team past the juve's and Ac's and manage to do ok in the CL he may change his mind.
