I finally got pics of my tactic hosted, thought for space/all our bandwidths' sakes I'd post the links to the pics rather than all the pics themselves in this thread.
Firstly I'd like to give credit where it's due,. I dunno who originally made this tactic (I got it off the the-dugout.net a few months back), but it's called 'CMAddictv3'. I've modified it (especially for the less skilled Portsmouth team) in some places, for example I've pushed the defenders back and given them strict orders (no creative freedom ).
Couple of notes, as you'll see the pics are from the PC version (try as I did, a cam with flash cannot take pics of a standard TV screen easily ), but this is the exact tactic I'm using on the 360 version and it works fairly well. Just lost 6-1 to Chelsea mind you, but I am Portsmouth, was away and I did have 10 men for 80 minutes.
I don't believe any tactic is full-proof in FM, I've never gone a season unbeaten since CM3 so don't expect miracles. But it's the best tactic for FM '06 I've found so far. It helped me to the league cup semis and 5th place (3rd 'til last day of the season ) with my beloved Man. City. Plus I got 28 goals in 32 games from Sibierski.
Another couple of quick notes about the 360 version - the PC version is more 'spaced out' in tactics, so the arrows are just one position/'click' up from the player's current position. And with regards to the sliders, I think almost all of them are just one 'click' away away from a change of style. For example, the mentality of the full backs is just one click up from Defensive. Though their passing style is I think 3 clicks down from Normal.
Well, that's it. Any questions I'll gladly answer. Hope it brings you at least some success.
PS: Andrey Arshavin's stats look great in both versions, but he's not always consistent as you'd expect, he'll cost about £5million if you want to take the slight gamble, but I've seen better AMC's (like D'Alessandro for example) since playing this City game.
Im using the default 442 Attacking Diamond in the championship, which it similar to this tactic in formation, and is working wonders for my Leeds team.
Ive only signed Iverssen, Arce and loaned McCann so far and Im 10 points clear with 14 games to go
Ive only lost 3 times all season, Ive beaten Everton over 2 legs to make the LC final.
Ive managed to rack up the 10 wins in a row achievement and destroy Millwall 7-0.
All in all there are goals in this formation, Iverssen is a great target man, with Healy on fire too, I havent failed to score in a league game yet.
