Exactly - bring out 8.02 around mid Feb, then final patch in April (making sure that everything is fixed), then release a data update with no game changes in October 2008.

Then test the hell out of FM2010

Why would they do that though ?

I'm looking at play.com and FM08 is currently sitting at the top of the PC game chart, with many other big titles under it. People are and still will buy the game each year. The majority of fans/users wont ever grace this forum.

At the end of the day Si/Sega can make money by releasing a new version each year. Can you really imagine them saying to sega "alright mr sega, we don't want to release FM this year because a few hundred people complained on the forum about it, i know that we would have sold hundreds of thousands anyway..." Even if they skipped a year I would be surprised if the sales were any higher.

I'm not bashing si but it is simple business. They arnt stupid, i'm sure they are fully aware of the problems this year and imo it is worse than recent years. The final patches for previous versions tended to solve most of the problems but when we get the next patch in February (come on it wont be before then!)I would be very surprised if they do sort all the issues out this year.

This is the least enjoyable FM for a long time for me, simply because of all the problems I have. The games are just not enjoyable to watch because they are so ridiculous.

I wont be buying FM09 unless it is significantly different with some proper new and useful features and existing issues, like the transfer system, are revamped.

They should be focusing on FM08, people have paid money for that and they should get a product they're happy with.

By the time the final patch comes out they have what? about 7 months until the next release. All of the other platforms to look at now. I reckon a few months before they update the data, add a few new features, it goes gold. Then it's down to us to report all the new stuff which is broke.

Yes, that is why, next year, we must all vote with our wallets. We will see then if SI tries to release games in such a state or leave bugs that have around for years unfixed.

Less sales means they will get the message where it hurts. It's high time we've been treated like mature clients and not 15 year old fanboys.

That would be financial disaster for SI. Football Manager games are seasonly games, if they skipped a version and worked on FM2010, people would just go out & buy the competitor's game, this would mean loss of sales for SI, meaning lower profits, remember they would still need to pay the staff wages, where would that money come from if they didnt release a game?

Sorry to make it sound like a business lesson

You'll never get a product that everyone is happy.

and from a personal point of view, SI have perfected the experience to such an extent that now a lot of people seem to pick up on miniscule faults and blow them out of all proportion, because they have to find soemething to complain and major bugs, e.g. ones where the game is truly unplayable simply dont exsist.

People need to stop becoming fixated by one or two minor faults, most of which have never been proven with substantial data, and see the game as the generally very well put together item it is

Sorry for the double post but i have just been on Fileplanet to see that call of duty has just had its 3rd patch released in under a month, so SI's two patches a year really isnt that bad when put into context of the major developers who patch becasue they didnt develop it poroperly in the first place
