When I praise other manager 2 or 3 players will be "happy that you're diverting attention to another club" and 1 or 2 "isn't sure you should be praising other players" while the rest won't react. I guess it down to personalities again...

And it's a good thing to have different personalities in the game. Rather than just bland "sames".
It at least lets you know who's going on the transfer list come January |

Heath - (nice to talk to you again) Fergie doesnt talk to the BBC as he believes they are too pro-Liverpool and anti-Man U
Disagree with his first claim strongly

I have to wonder how managers of teams like Chelski and ManUre get on with media comments as from real life the amount of comments you get from people like Mourinho and Ferguson that could be seen as 'unprofessional' are huge. Does this mean that players like Terry, Lampard, Giggs, Scholes etc. aren't professional? If they are then you'd expect their squad morale to be awful, which is clearly not the case. This feature and board confidence need a major overhaul.

When I was managing a BSP side, I had Fulham as my parent. I praised the Fulham manager a couple times, and once, when we met in the FA Cup, we exchanged a round of pleasentries. We "thought we could be come friends."
Next season, Fulham was relegated. My friend was fired.
Now, he's managing in Turkey. And he has given me half-scouting knowledge of Turkey, even though I can't send scouts out of the UK & Ireland. Friends apparently talk to each other about the players in their leagues....

I reckon the reason it's set up like this with the winghy players is so that the feature isn't used as a cheat. If they didn't respond to managers being praised you could be friends with every manager around and easily sign players from them!

Player Rating :-
5 or Below :- Angry
6 :- Dissapointing
7 :- None
8 :- Well Done
9/10 :- Delighted
I find this generally works.

I've noticed this as well but put it down to personality clash and/or an issue with my reputation - Fergie, Wenger, etc are bad examples to use because their reputations are immense and the respect from most players is total.
Have to say, though, that I used to know a few Walsall players, and the then-manager praised Dario Gradi. One of the players said that he didn't know what the boss was on about, because Gradi was a tool. Words to that effect, and it was just his opinion.
Tbh, his reaction surprised me, as supporters tend to see a club as a united front with the players going along with the gaffer. Things go on within the squad, though, and it is this that the game is trying to represent - though I will agree it places too much importance on mnior squabbles. The Saddler I mentioned certainly didn't go off and sulk about it, as players tend to do in FM.
