I was offered and accepted a job offer from the Ivory Coast national team, only to find out that they didn't have one single goalkeeper in squad, not even in the national pool.

How is it possible such a situation which in real life would be inimmaginable?

I ended up losing 8 games out of 10 only because I couldn't field a goalkeeper, but I had to put in goal a normal player.

How can one solve such an obscured situation?

Well there just aren't that many Ivory Coast top players. You'd need the biggest database loaded up, ideally with all players from Ivory Coast loaded up too. But thats just hindsight. I personally wouldn't take such a job, because there's simply just not enough players to make it worthwhile.

have you tried searching for ivorian players in seach but the keepers wont be any good if there not even in the national pool which leagues have you selected ?

I've checked their league. There are 8 teams. They had 3 goalkeepers each but they weren't highlighted and therefore unaccessible.

How can you search worldwide for a specific role (ex. goalkeeper) of a specific nationality (ex. Ivory Coast)?

P.S. I've been playing FM2008 only for the last 2 days and so I'm new to it.

I have recently taken charge of Ghana, and there are only 2 goalkeepers, and one is a 19 year old regen without club. What I am going to do is if my top goalkeeper gets injured I will make him fit using a save game editor. Cheating, I know, but the original situation is so unrealistic that I can't help but cheat.

well its in search where it shows well known players in ur region and a button on the top right hand side and click customize and you shoudl work it out from there i cant go on the game becuase for some reason it takes ages to go from the game to a web page

there is a tool called FMM. you can get the download link from the editors/data updates forum.

just start your save, start the editor while game is running, and load the save game into the editor.

now type the name of your country in the search box, and go to your country. Their will be a button called players, click that and you get the list of players in the squad. there is a button called heal team there. if you press it the entire team will be healed.

I led Ivory Coast to win the African Nations Cup with no problems. I found 2 Ivorian GKs and they both sucked but I just let them take turns playing and usually didn't concede too many because the Ivorian defenders are very good. Drogba and Kalou make the experience worth it.

Had a similar experience when managing Ghana on 07. Isn't there an option in preferences where you can load the players from a specific country, or does that require a new game to be started? Can't remember now...
