Whenever my team is up at half, I always seem to concede a few goals. I'm pretty sure this is because of my team talks at half time. What should I say to the players? "Pleased" never works, but it should at least sometimes!
Just leave it to the ass man, they seem to get it right more often than not.
I was losing champions league final at HT and he total my players the pressure was off?! anyway I came back to win. I don't know where the logic is in that but I just ignore it.

Depends on the score. If you are winning you can be sure the AI managers teamtalk is stimulating, I like to keep the teams foot down as it were whilst closely watching for formation changes and subs by AI in early second half.
Telling the team you are happy and losing isn;t a bug, it's a poorly thought out option in the game, I'm not even happy at 5-0 since there's still a clean sheet to be had and more confidence building goals to score.
I do not recommend leaving the duty of team talks to your assistant manager. I've tried it myself and all too often the result is the occasional upsetting of my players. The formula I go by and one that works for me, for the most part, is a 'don't expect your performance to drop,' if leading at home and a 'pleased,' if leading away. Seems to do the trick.
I like to make substitutions either at half time or soon after that way there are players on the field who have not been cursed by the half time team talk
I always click the ass.man suggest button. What he says make no sense 9/10 but apparently it is working as I find myself top 3 in the league. I change it sometimes when I feel he is completly out in the blue, like tellling them they are disappointing while winning away.

Take the time to do it probably. Can't just walk into the changing rooms and say "Do better". I speak to each player individually depending on match rating and morale.
Low morale/low rating? Tell him there's no pressure
Low morale/high rating? Tell him he's doing great.
High morale/low rating? Tell him to pull his socks up.
High morale/high rating? Tell him to keep up the good work, don't get sloppy.
