Default I don't like the game, but its my fault.

I realise that every single day there is another thread that pops up regarding someone having no enjoyed the game, and well I guess its my turn to post one. I'll keep it short though.

With FM I just feel that I am not good enough to actually get any results. I can't buy a goal, I can't tactically master a victory over Gillingham in the League Cup with Chelsea.

I'm just not having any fun with the game, because I feel like I need to be a tactical genius just to play the game normally.

Does anyone else find that the game makes you feel very very small indeed?

I do hope this doesn't come off as a rant against SI because I think that the game is a magnificent achievement, and my mates are enjoying their games (because they are winning and such), I am just finding it very difficult to have enjoy it.

The old 'Sing when you're winning' syndrome. I suffer from that myself When I'm winning I love the game, when I'm losing I hate it and it's ambiguity with a passion.

Why not nick your mates tactics, if not to use then just to look at to see if there is any particular reason why they are having success and you aren't?

Well the fact is that they seem to be able to win without doing much tactical changes at all, maybe its just hard to win games as Chelsea & Real Madrid...

We all play on a network game and they are able to win nearly every single game (as Man U and Arsenal) whereas I have to struggle with Chelsea, battling for the 3rd/4th place with Newcastle and Man City.

I really feel like I've tried a lot, I even signed freakin' Kaka and he was crap for me. I don't know, maybe I just missed a beat on this edition.

Try the default tactics. You might end up surprised how a good starting point they make.

When you start seeing things you want changed from those, start tinkering with them.

That's how I always start with each new iteartion and after each patch.

Yeah, I'm such a big fan the the K.I.S.S regime (Keep it Simple Stupid).

Also try starting at the bottom, if you are in the bottom league with no experience set with a team not expected to do too well, any success is a bonus. I'm not forcing you to try proper LLM but I find it makes the game a lot more fun (even when getting hammered)!!!

Keep playing, but whatever you do i just cant't see real joy of playing the game with all this problems ( 1 on 1 , long shots etc. ). Until the new patch. Don't get me wrong i'm winning ewerything with Barca ( with that kind of players it's easy ) but i don't enjoy it.

This may be your very problem. Fm2008 is not like Fm2007 when you needed tactical wizadry. In Fm2008, it's more common that good players will win you games. Of course tactics help but try not to put too much emphasis on tactics for now. Choose your strongest team, try to keep morale high and see what you come up with.
