Hi, new member and a novice at photoshop. I'm not a stranger to forums, but this is my first photoshop related foray so I hope to find a helpful community of folks here!

My question:

I'm creating a large display to be used at an upcoming car show to detail all the modifications I've made to my truck. My intent was to create it using a composite of 8x10 photos, then assemble them into one picture (for cost reasons), although I may spend the money to have it printed as one sheet.

I made the canvas 30x40" then added text and pictures. I used the slice tool to create multiple tiles, saved them individually, then had Walmart print a few as a test. I understand that pictures with too low resolution will come out blurry. What I can't figure out is why the text came out blurry on the edges. I did have to change the .gif files to jpeg's before sending them off to printing, which I did in paint, so I'm not sure if thats where I lost the resolution.

I also read that changing the resolution from 72 to around 300 could get me the results I was looking for. I did that, then tried to tile it with the slice tool using the same pixel dimensions as before (equivalent of an 8x10), but the tile came out super small.

Basically, I need to get the text and design to print cleanly. Once I take some new hi-res photos of my truck I'll plug them in as well.

Any help or suggestions is graciously welcomed.

personally i would do this in indesign.

your text will stay vector so no probs when printing, plus at that size i would probably do 150 DPI same as the billboard posters
