Default Problem: Using something with lower set o pixels as a reference

Hey all!

My question is a bit ahrd to explain but I will do my best.

I am making a pretty big artwork and it has LOTS of pixels.
So many that my reference is way to small.
But the thing is that is only when I drop it on the art work.
Then it gets on there and shows as a little little peace.
But when it is in 100 % it is okay...

So I want to draw a line following this photo but it is impossible since my photo gets so damn edgy when I size it up....

So now I am wondering if it is possible to keep it att 100 % and draw on it that way...
Do you understand?

One way would be to have one transparent window (with my reference picture) over the artpiece window and still have the window underneithe active and be able to draw on it....
Is that possible or can I do it some other way?

Thanx

You can only work on the top document.
So, If I understand, you want to draw a straight line on a piece that is too big to see all at once and be acurate, as seen through a reference pic right ?
OK, if that`s the case, enlarge the reference (all are in the same document, yes ?) til you an see what you are doing. On a new Layer, place the points you want to draw from and to. As in, put a dot on this new Layer with the paint brushat both ends of the desired line.
Make the "big" Layer active, Zoom in as far as necessary on the first point. Click it with your drawing tool ( brush, pencil...) navigate over to the other point, hold SHIFT and click the other point.

TA-DA !

If I misunderstood, ignore this post and move on.

Do I understand it well that you can't see what you're doing when the image completely fills your document window and that you're forced to work at 100% which makes it difficult to draw some parts of the image, especially when you use a small brush size or selection?

In that case it's important to know that you can use the space bar at any time to move your canvas; your cursor will turn into a little hand.

You can also open a second window (or even more than one!) using the menu: Windows/Arrange/New Window For .....

The window(s) will be an exact copy of your current document window and any edit in one window, will be duplicated in the other Window(s) which allows you to get immediate visual feedback at different zoom levels.
