Default How to get the effect of painted wood?

How would I get the effect of painted wood? I want to turn some photos of old wood stained furniture into furniture that looks like it has been painted with a brush.

Thanks for any help.

Can you post one of the pics for us to see what you are working with?

Welcome Aisle5. I could give you some tips on how to create a wood texture, but don't you think it's better to use wood texture instead; the effect would look much better than most 'photoshopped' wood. Since you're going to use this wood to fix a few photographs I assume you want to keep the realism intact.

Anyways, Goodtutorials.com is a good place to find dozens of wood texture tutorials: http://www.good-tutorials.com/search...wood%20texture

And here's a site that offers free wood textures: http://mayang.com/textures/Wood/html...res/index.html

I`m not sure what you`re looking for , so I`m just taking a shot here.

I started with real wood textures, then :
1) New Layer. Fill w/ blue.
2) Add noise. how much will be determined by file dementions and resolution. Play with it.
3) Motiin blur, 90 degrees. Again play with the amount. Set to Color Mode. 70-80 %
4) Duplicate color layer, Go Filter>>Stylize>>Emboss, Adjust Curves to add contrast. Set to Lighten Mode, 40-50 %
5) Filter>>Distort>>Shear to make the brush strokes stand out a bit more.
