Default Gradient shadows???

I evidently do not do enough of theses to retain the information. Either that or my age is starting to show - your choice.

Anyway, when I do a shadow I put my subject (selection) on a new layer. I then use Command Delete to turn it black. Transform>Distort to lay it down and place it where I want it and finally the layer opacity and Guassian Blur to feather it. If you really want extra realism you should taper the shadow from dark next to the subject to light at the far end. Finally my question - How do I taper the density of the shadow from dark to almost completely transparent?

Thanks in advance.

Just two methods; add a mask to the shadow layer and fill it with a black/white linear gradient or use a layer style, like explained here: http://www.photoshopgurus.com/forum/...86483#msg86483

Hope this help Lee.?
