Whenever I've needed to find my center, I have dragged the horizontal ruler until it snapped and I dragged the vertical ruler until it snapped. Not too tedious. Your way works too!
That's true Alistair, but only if you have a solid filled layer to snap to. The nice thing about Shadez way is that the settings stay the same for every document, so that all you have to press is ctrl+' for the grid.? [righton]

True! I guess I'm stuck in my old ways. I just create a new later, slap some white paintbucket on, and then use my method. I don't consider it too tedious [innocent]

all you do is click the background layer at the start and then it will snap.. EASY
