Default moving object

I'm not sure how to accomplish this but I am trying to make a ball look like it is in motion as it is thrown across a room.
I know I can blur the ball but I was thinking more of trying to show a series of the ball in flight.
Does anyone have any suggestions how best to do this.
Thanks fellows

Thanks Ronmatt, that looks great just what I had in mind but instead of a straight line of flight I would like to have it more like a arc or a lob.

this is very basic and has a basic effect. We can make it far more complicated with stretching the
ball for color trails and doing some interesting effects in Illustrator. But this may serve the purpose
