Ronmatt, wasn't the genetically engineered basted TurkeySnapper by Butterball banned in California in the late 70?s?? I remember it being a fine bit of engineering. if i remember right it tasted like pork.

Tastes like chicken (or rattlesnake). It wasn't officially 'banned' in California, but it was highly criticized by the Save the Flounder people. Seems the Turkeyfish is an endangered species and can be found only in the cold, still pools, high in the Sierras. History has it that the Turkeyfish was served to the Sierra mountain men and some disenchanted Epicurean Monks by the Mukwuk indians. ( it was thier traditional thanksgiving meal of choice ). The Mukwuks also offered it to the Donner party, who elected to eat each other instead (?). Back in the 70's, hippies from a commune near Sierraville escaped with 3 Turkeyfish and they showed up at a macrobiotic restaurant in the Haight one thanksgiving and the trend was launched. That's when the conroiversy began. Fishermen converged on the mountain pools every November and every November were attacked by renagade Mukwuks. Soon the demand for Turkeyfish waned and is now only a memory of the 'good old days' for us decendants of mountainmen, epicurean monks, Mukwuks and hippy communists.
