here's an original photo of a lovely lady, the type taken maybe by a friend, at the beach. I used it for a background for a perfume ad.

I've seen the effect before but I can't place it. Wave Filter? Offfset? \:/

No. I made the lace by making a rectangle, say 2"x4"? black, then making a,bout a no.2 -3 grey hor. stripes, about 1/4"x4" and stepping them down so that you have alternating 1/4" black and grey stripes.
Merge them ( this is in greyscale) rasterize. N O W, filter>sharpen,? THEN, sharpen more, THEN more and more etc. You'll notice patterns beginning to form. at anytime you can add vertical stripes. or circles or whatever. Now convert to rgb and have at it with layer styles etc. You'll get some great patterns and after a while you'll get a feel for how to control them. That'll be $1.32 please.

Very cool technique, ronmatt. I've never used the sharpen filters for this type of thing. Back to the sandbox. Thanks, I'll post it, if I come up with anything interesting.
