I currently have an amd 4200 processor with 2 gb memory with clockspeed of 533 mhz and a 256 ddr3 geforce 7600. Is it worth upgrading to a amd 6000 or won't be it be a real difference with games etc.
Would my memory speed restrict the advantages of a better processor a lot, as I heard amd takes greata dvantage of high memory speed?

what wasma said. your current processor isn't that much of a bottleneck as far as performance goes, but a lot of the latest games will need more than 256Mb of gfx memory to run well

If you got the money now, leave the graphics card, and go for the 6000+ sell your 4200+ and just keep on saving for the direct x10.1 cards coming out, there's nothing out apart from bioshock worth spending your money on a card.
I have the 6000+ and upgraded from the 4200+ and it blows it out the water.
Or keep on saving for the AMD quad cores coming out sometime this year. Your set up isn't bad at all tbh.

If you're not running games at high resolutions, VRAM makes little difference. It's not as important as it once was. Core and VRAM speed fat more important nowadays.

Not so much now, but games coming out on vista, from what I’ve heard over on the ebuyer forums with the intels there's nothing they can't do, plus intels are cheap so AMD will have to being them out cheap to compete. Would you say no for quad-core at around £150.
