Technical help required - no programs (excpet IE) working
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone may be able to help. Basically all the programs on my PC (with the exception of Internet Explorer) are refusing to run. Whenever I click on a shortcut or .exe file the following message pops up:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel".
Now I'm not the most techinically gifted of people and am a bit concerned at this. I am suspecting a virus but annoyingly I cannot run my virus checker as it comes up with the same error message!
If anyone has any advice I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks,
Chris

Sorry guys I have been at football training whilst my old man tried to sort out the PC (to no avail).
The programs do not run at all (regardless of where they are launched), and it's looking as though we are going to have to re-format and re-install windows. Good news is that we will be able to transfer all of the saved documents etc and start afresh.
That is unless anyone has a solution!?

Try starting it up in SAFE mode and see if it works (press F8 repeatedly while the computer is booting, then select 'Start in safe mode', or somethin like that)
