Neil Purvis is infamous around these parts
Default Should the work of criminals be celebrated?

There was a feature on the beeb website about whether or not the work of someone convicted of being a paedophile should be condemned, or whether their work and their crime should be seen as separate.

It reminded me of a thread a while ago, which I think was about the Michael Jackson case where someone (might have been gavnoble) said that if he was found guilty they would boycott his products based on him being a paedophile. This included destroying any copies of his work curently in his posession.

If anyone is interested in reading the entire article it can be found at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6979731.stm

So, would a conviction against anyone influence whether you ‘celebrated’ their work, either by buying it, viewing it, listening to it etc.?

Yep I see both things as being different. Bit like a football player might be a complete ****** but I still think he's a great player. I also admire criminal work.

It does depend on the crime though. There's a moral difference (in most people's minds) between a petty thief and a paedophile.
