it was just a general inquiry really, thinking about building a new system (currently stuck with a 2.4gig p4 ), just been a while since ive read up on anything, just not sure whether to a) go conroe and get just dual core b) get a current quad core c) wait for penryn (or is it wolfsdale that is going to be the desktop chip?) and get that.

haven;t really read up on hardware in quite a while tbh, just noticed dd3 is now out, very pricey. is it a) worth it? (i would assume currently not considering 2gig costs like £300) b) is there a wide selection of mobos out that support it?
also, anyone know if the bog standard asus p5b mobo supports quad core intel or just bog standard conroe.
Not especially, unless you have a a decent CPU and a mobo with the FSB to match it.

There are still some very good AGP cards around too, so that shouldn't be a worry (not sure we'll see any DX10 AGP cards released though)

very few, and they're quite expensive.
don't think it's worth it at the moment. the difference in speed from pc6400 isn't worth paying twice the price.
