I know a couple of hostals that are smack in the middle of the city and cost a tenner (Euros) a night. And a couple of ffffb bars, liter of beer for Euro kinda stuff.

www.hostelworld.com can't go wrong, has got user reviews too so get an idea how much of a dive or not they are.
