But if the ref says go away the player does.
Nor do you see rugby players crowding or running to the ref imploring a decision.

Cheating is rife in football and this is just another factor of it.

football players clearly not middle class enough as though "rowdy" Rugby chaps </BLOCKQUOTE>

also the fact that most of them finish school at 16, and some maybe at 14 probably lose the motivation to learn because they know they are going to be a footballer

I think swearing is natural during the game a throwaway "oh, feck off, ref" is normal but we dont really need the "you're a kunt, ref" type stuff. Is it needed ? It's an emotional game, tempers, lots at stake, blah blah blah but the ref is not trying to make mistakes. You can moan all you like but he's trying to do his job, a job made all the more difficult by the likes of diving, etc

If players are constantly surrounding the ref and backing him up a little isnt it more likely that he will make the odd dodgy decision ?

Anyone can 'talk' to him but dont get in his face

Yeah I know, I play rugby myself.

Just saying that people are allowed to talk to the ref, just not have a go, just have to be smart about disagreeing.

If you do it well you can sway refs to your side. I remember once saying:

"Ref, they're &lt;insert random offence&gt;

He says "Are you telling me what to do?"

Me "Nope, merely suggesting it"

Both laugh and we got ever decision that match

what is the point of a captains arm band, is it just to win a coin toss? Let them take some responsilbity

Graeme le Saux !!!!!

Although being smart meant team mates kinda thought he was gay - always loved that

I want players that do as they're told with their organised rowdiness, i ****ing hate rugby and especially their fans. I like the lower classes playing footie but you can soon slap them in line.

Problem is, a rule comes along that says "no hassling the ref agressively" and the second a 'name' player from a big side picks up a 2nd yellow for it and is off the media will go mental about it. They'll also go mental about poor decisions which may or may not have been brought about by hassling a ref as well though

I dont think there's anything wrong with that "ref, he's backing in, how many times before you give me something' type talk. It's up to the ref if he thinks someone is going over the top with it, hardly intimidating, that's fine with me tbh, ref can tell him to button it.

As soon as the player gets in the ref's face and gets agressive with it then he should be booked.

Do players really need to be hounding refs about decisions ? That's where the protection should be.
Talk to him but there is a line

I believe only the captain should only be able to complain to the ref but other players can ask the ref a question. I come from a rugby back ground though

Absolutely baffling - do you actually know what a captain's role is ffs.

Are you seriously saying that a player should be able to get away with slating the ref, knowing its his captain who will take the punishment - absolutely baffling train of thought.

Players MUST take responsibility for THEIR OWN actions and not pass the buck to other people - this is why football is in this situation.

Cricket and rugby played mainly by players who have been university and/or public school educated from middle class families. They have more respect for authority.
Footballers on the other hand are thick as **** school dropouts.
Obviously im stereotyping and there are of course exceptions.
Complete balls.

A) Welsh Rugby players do not fit this criteria.

B) Martin Johnson is one of the biggest whingers and complainers in Rugby.
