What worths after all? First in a "bad" univ or 2.2 or third in a good univ?
Well many of us discuss about universities rankings and how good are but in end of the day do you think these all discussions about the popularity or the good and bad comments about the universities worth?
There are many good universities in uk and and many let's say not good especially old polytechics. But if a person has a degree of 2.2 or third in a university like Southampton or UCL and another person has First or 2.1 in a univ such as London Met or Derby or Sunderland. Which of the degrees count best?

I don't know much on this topic but a higher grade would be better I assume because isn't it the syllabus going to be the same on that course in a uni?

Not really that comparable but from what I've heard from employers I've spoken too, general university reputation is taken first over the actual grade for many types of degree (at least for 1, 2:1 and 2:2, 3rd would be pushing it). Can't say I have looked into many other degrees apart from my own though, so it guess it depends.

2.1 in a good uni easily outweighs a 1st from a bad uni.
I'd say that a 3rd from any uni is **** and would be considered so by almost all employers. A 2.2 from Oxbridge may be better than a 1st from an old poly but not by much if at all imo. I reckon these days it doesn't matter where you go a 2.1 is the minimum required.

Well my brother got a 2.2 at Oxford and got a good job within a month, someone else I know got a 1st at Westminister doing the same course and it took her 6 months to get a job and with a much lower starting salary.

That's at an extreme of the scale though, I suppose
Well i don't speak only about universities like Oxford that has a world-wide reputation... but for other universities too that have have high position in the rankigns but aren't so reputable.

but this thing has to do about employers not the uk government. I think if 2 persons have 2.1 one from Man Met and the other from Uni of Manchester it hasn't any difference for the government bodies and recognitions!
