The Eurofighter holds a few advantages over the Raptor, mainly it's manoeuvrability. But in pretty much every other factor it's outclassed. However if you're wanted a smaller, cheaper, multi-role aircraft that can do any almost anything it's perfect. Europe's answer to the F16 tbh.

Politics & economics. Jobs and votes. Personally I'd have preferred us using the Viper years ago, just because it's such a versatile and comparatively cheap aircraft.

Nope, but it does have thrust vectoring to help improve its manoeuvrability much like the newest Sukhoi aircraft.

| i assume the JSF will replace the Harrier while the F22 would be the main interception aircraft
though atm they're working on making the Typhoon a carrier aircraft too

Well we won't be using the F22 at all, if that's what you're suggesting. The F22 is designed to be an air superiority fighter, to follow on from the F15.
The JSF/F35 is going to be a combination of Harrier and Tornado. With the Typhoon taking on the role of the Tornado ADV, but also retaining multi-role capability. No idea if we'll see a Naval version of it though, never bothered to check.

TBH the F-22 is going to prove to be a great white elephant
OK as an interceptor its superb, but its to costly to buy and maintain, and the likely opposition is no match for its predecessor the F-15
It also can't be used in a secondary Ground Attack role like the Eurofighter
Ant the UK will be acquiring the navalised JSF / F-35 for the 2 new carriers that are being built, its unknown whether any will be purchased for the RAF as the Typhoon can adequately fulfill the land based role

That's why they've scaled the program back to only about 180 aircraft. Serves them well, but they only require a small number.
They need a long term replacement for the F-15, so they were going to introduce them one way or another.

Thats the problem as well as 180 aircraft is not enough to cover the conUS, barely enough to protect the North East coast TBH
They would have been better off upgrading the F15

They won't be retiring their other aircraft though. The F22s won't serve as their primary air superiority fighter, just the apex squadron of each area of the country. They let the other aircraft do the grunt work.
