Anyone care to share their experiences of dementia?
My mum's 81 and over the last year she's got more and more forgetful, but it seems to have accelerated over the last couple of days. She keeps asking the same questions again and again, and generally just doesn't seem herself. I rang NHS Direct who suggested I took her into A&E for some tests, but she flatly refused to go, and wondered why I was concerned.
In fact, whilst writing this I checked out this link and it sure looks like Alzheimer's to me.
Balls.

My Nan had it. Horrible, horrible illness. I handled it quite well until I went to visit her one day and she had no idea who I was, that upset me quite a bit. Was weird though she could perfectly recall anything from her childhood/teenage years.

My Nan recently died after having a mental illness, got to the point where she didnt even recongise anyone in the end, very horrible illness. Best to get someone to come out and assess your mother as if she does indeed have it then things will only get worse.

My next door neighbour has it. My dad has to regularly help her with her Sky. My younger brother gets annoyed at her always knocking on our door and asking him the same questions in the morning and evening, but my dad, mum, younger sister and I are tolerant.
