Default Paul Scholes at his peak, or Steven Gerrard?

On the football opinions page on teletext, a gonk wrote in saying Gerrard is "miles better than Paul Scholes la". A barrage of United fans have subsequently delivered a riposte stating that it's a vice versa, understandably. The view from the United fans was that Gerrard doesn't have the vision or guile of Scholes. I think it's testament to Scholes that he has been an integral part of a side challenging for honours every season since his 1994 debut. That and if he hadn't retired from international football he would definitely still be in the England squad - successive managers have bent over backwards to get him to come out of retirement. What is the OTF view?

I'd say Scholes last season was better than Gerrard last season.

Scholes is better in an attacking sense, Gerrard is better in a defensive sense.

Though i'd argue that Gerrard is better attacking than Scholes is defending.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLAYER. CANNOT BE COMPARED. Or something.

Being slightly biased I would say Gerrard, purely because he is the total package. He does the lot, and can boss a game on his own.

Scholes is a cracking player, but doesn't have Gerrard's dynamic qualities.

Oh, and wp on getting a United v Liverpool mongfest underway
