I'm probably being a bit harsh, clearly a very good player but I'm looking at it from the point of view of picking a team for a job. There're quite a number of AMs I'd have ahead of Scholes, but very few of Gerrard's type I'd have ahead of him.
er...
If i had to think of a player who had brilliant technique, scholes would be one of the first I would mention

That and Gerrard basically saying Gattuso is **** still rankles a bit.
But Henry is loved for his 'arrogance'? (Not by me for the record - I find his pouting and shoulder dusting utterly embarrassing.)

Zidane style modest-but-really-smug-ness for the win.

I'd try and argue your point further, but for some reason I find it really hard to put into words why one player's technical ability is greater than anothers :/

I just can't do it in any reasonable way!

I'm writing this because I'm frustrated that I have to leave your comment as it is despite having never been so sure that I'm right

This is unfair, as its not necessarily so that Gerrard has peaked yet.

Rob Lee>Gary Speed>Scholes>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>*

Now onto the serious debate. Never been a big Gerrard fan tbh. I agree he is a great box-to-box midfielder but better than Scholes, not a chance.

Watching them both on TV i tend to notice that Scholes passing is amazing and he hardly ever wastes a pass. Gerrard on the other hand tries time after time to hit the 'Hollywood ball' and it either ends up with the player busting a gut ot get the ball or going into the waste bin. Both cannot tackle tbh but Gerrard gets round the pitch more as thats his style.

Also agree Gerrard comes across as abit arrogant (Most modern footballers 26 and below are) while Scholes is a legend for being modest and saying the only club he'd leave Man U for is Oldham

Still not a patch on the 1994-1999 Rob Lee though.
