Incredibly frustrating and it seems to be specifically English fans that have this problem

There's no argument, imo
indeed.

this thread is quite hilarious. none more so than when peeeps talk about gerrard's "fantastic" tackling ability.

scholes > gerrard by some distance.

I don't think you can really compare both players at their peak, as Gerrard hasn't reached his yet. However, this could be the season he gets there because we've finally got a team that doesn't rely on him to win games. I'd say players generally play better when they're surrounded by team mates of a high standard so I think Stevie's gonna have a good one.

So in summary, Scholes at the moment, but someone revive this thread at the end of the season and we'll see where we are.

Not lacking technique, just not as much.

I'm probably being a bit harsh, clearly a very good player but I'm looking at it from the point of view of picking a team for a job. There're quite a number of AMs I'd have ahead of Scholes, but very few of Gerrard's type I'd have ahead of him.

Scholes has always had some of the best players in the world around him though tbf, not his fault but he didn't really carry the team when Keane left.

While not really a factor in his footballing ability, I find Gerrard comes across as being arrogant especially in interviews. Some of his own fans say they don't like him because of it (such as MC though he may have said it tongue-in-cheek). Conversely Scholes is regarded as one of the most modest players in the game.

That and Gerrard basically saying Gattuso is **** still rankles a bit.
