it's not like Scholes was playing great when he called time on his England career. Before the "Sven played him on the left" rubbish comes out, he played him there because he wouldnt drop Scholes in the middle in favour of the red hot )at the time) Lampard so shunted Scholes out left, where we were rubbish anyway. Scholes didnt like it ... ended up knocking it on the head.

Sven was notorious for not dropping players, this was another example. I am sure Scholes' form is something to do with settled family life, less travel, stupid England friendly hassles, playing them, training for them and talking about them.

Put him back in the England side and you dont know how he's be.

Doesnt answer the question. As good and highly rated as Scholes is he's still probably under rated (if that makes sense). Think i'd take Gerrard but there are circumstances i'd take Scholes over him for sure
