Jimmy to start please.
Strauss*
Cook
Bell
Shah
Collingwood
Flintoff
WK
Hoggard
Harmison
Panesar
Anderson
should be enough to win, Pietersen to come back in for Shah. When Vaughan is fit he'll probably replace Collingwood which will be a bit unfair. There really is no room for Trescothick unless they drop Strauss, which might happen if he has a few bad tests.

What about Davies, Warwickshire I think (?), young wicket-keeper? I'd be tempted to throw him in if he's got potential, although I know nothing about country cricket.

| Other than be 10 years too old :p Its a shame really that Nixon didnt get the nod ahead of Geraint back in 2004, although iirc he had a poor season with the bat then. But England HAVE to look towards 2009 & the Ashes now and i can see no point in playing someone now who isnt going to feature in 2 years time.

Nixon is fitter than anyone in the England squad and could play another 4 years easily..but won't need to as Davies will have come into the picture before the end of next summer.

I think they'll go for Nixon so that they don't have to choose yet, when they pick someone else they'll want them to be there for a while, they don't want to be chopping and changing, so Nixon will play the first test series, and whoever performs best in county cricket during that time will either come in for the second series or if not then the winter.
