Samples are moulded around drum patterns quite frequently going on what I've heard. And "what draws you into the song" depends entirely on how people listen to music. Different people are drawn in by different things.

But you can't just ignore that bit in your brain that goes "oh I remember this song, nice/ what's it called/ oh 1God not this*!"

What comes next is the improvement (if it occurs ) and then you make a new decision based on the combination.

But if the sample is repeated throughout the song then the brain thing still holds true.
It's not something you can voluntarily switch on and off.
