Just sat and read the whole thing. I think homophobia isn't just confined to Football, and have read other versions of this in Basketball/NFl/Baseball too. John Amaechi came out after his career ended.

Le Saux has a point when he likens it to racism - if a player dropped the N bomb in a game as a slur intended to wind up another, there would be world war 3 and rightly so. Therefore, attacking a persons sexuality shouldn't be so far removed. Obviously in his case, Le Saux wasn't actually gay, but that still doesn't excuse the homophobia.

Racism is still a part of the game today, but it's just one of those things that has taken time to push out towards the fringes of acceptability. Hopefully homophobia is the next step.

Thought it was an interesting read, but for a lot of the stuff he’s basically saying ‘player x said this, but this is what really happened and you should trust me instead’.

Not that I’m saying he’s lying, but when he says Ince said this, Fowler said this but this is what really happened then who are you to believe?

Although fwiw I’m inclined to believe Le Saux more than the others.

I'd tend to agree with you Neil.

It is difficult to decide who was right and who was wrong when each person gives a different account.

However, Le Saux has never come across as a person with an agenda to place himself in a good night. He is somebody who appears to be able to be eloquent and hold himself with dignity for the most part, so i don't see what benefit he would have with trying to discredit somebody for his own ends.
