Lieber/Sehr geehrter Herr _____,
Vielen Dank.
Thanks very muchly.

I wouldn't worry about the grammar, he'll probably enjoy marking it and sending it back.

Couple of seemingly complex clauses there which look a bit funny to me, not gonna say they're wrong though.

Having said that, I only got a B at A=Level :p

What uni you going to?

Yeah I tend to overcomplicate my clauses sometimes and screw things up.

I'm going to Aston uni, but not to study German. I'm going to continue it though - I'm told I have the option to carry on learning it there whilst doing my degree, and I may spend some time out there after uni, or possibly work there in my placement year.

'sie' should be 'Sie'.

For the rest it's not too shabby for a native speaker

Stick "Du hast hange-titten" on the end for laughs. OR "Ich habe sich Frau schwanger gemacht"
