Default I think my boiler exploded
And helpfully my landlord never gave me a contact number.

I just got home and my flat was incredibly hot and smelled a lot like burning. I checked the electric boiler and it was puffing steam out of the top. Now my flat is full of steam, water and odd brown stuff.

May sound stupid, but there's nothing poisonous in there is there? I'm sure I inhaled something I've obviously turned it off at the mains, so should I just wait until I can call the letting agents tomorrow or is it rather more urgent? Only ever had gas boilers in my other places.

If it was puffing steam out a small (ie very small) plastic hole then thats just the boiler overheating.

If its an immersion heater, ie it stores water and heats it as opposed to actually heating it on demand, then yes I;d say it needs a new element.

Theres nothing posionous in it.

Yeah it's an immersion heater, shall let the landlord deal with that tomorrow.
