i wonder how cave men thought when all the words they had were 'ugg' and 'euurrgh'
not really enough to have a proper lucid thought.

so a person who was deaf from birth is not going to have learnt oral english so they're not going to think in english.
actually i say that ,they might learn from watching people mouth formations. then the person teaching them will say yeah or no if they get the words right or wrong. but that's it.

I mean the whole 'not comprehending how anyone can think without using language bit'.
It doesn't take a genius to work out that language is a symbolic system (words representing things) and therefore, bereft of language, a person will use something else symbolic that makes sense in terms of their own perception of reality. Probably a similar situation with animals.
We don't always think in words anyway.

How does a cat think? I mean, it can't just think "meow meow" all the time can it?

cats do not think. they handle according to instincts.
to think is to be able to reason, to philosophize, it's what separates men from animal.
