I'm not saying Spiderman movies are great but established comic character, put the chick in, bit of a love story and used various well known villains and stories from the comics that people that are already fans will know of and movie goers will be able to get into easily
I always hated Superman comics anyway so that probably clouded my opinion they could have made a more enjoyable film.
