I have heard barcelona is THE BOMBâ„¢ and Im looking to take my girlfriend there for a couple of days for her birthday in November.
Im aware of all the usual suspects to book, and im not being lazy, I will of course look myself, but it seems alot of people have been there, so does anybody have any specific recommendations for a particular hotel/location, etc. Im not really too worried about cost, while im obviously not looking to pay absolutely thousands, im prepared to pay for more than just a basic hotel. Any help would be appriciated, Cheers peoples
price of an apartment per day basically the same as your average hotel. the deposit is a bit steep, but fully refundable. locations and amenities can't be beat.
Hotels around the University (road is: Gran Via) are ideally situated a few mins walk to the Placa catalunya/Las Ramblas and on Metro lines 1 & 2 to get almost anywhere you'll want to go. I stayed at the Sunotel Centro which was good (brand spanking new in August).

I had a look at a few apartments before I went and if you can get one close to the city centre then they're a winner for the price
cheers mates, have been checking those places out.
What is the place like for getting around, and is there language problems? I speak some spanish, but only really basic stuff really. DONDE DONE??? DONDE MARICON!
subway is cheap and pretty efficient. gets you within a few blocks of pretty much everywhere you'll want to go. language can be a bit of a barrier, especially with some of the catalan giving you **** for talking even in spanish to them, but it's alright.
Most people speak English. Also the metro is very simple. Machines are in English. You can get a T10 ticket for zone 1 which is everywhere touristy. This gives you 10 trips with changes (if you don't leave the station) for something like 5-8 euros or so.
There is also the touristic bus (one of those open deck bus tours - 3 routes) which you can hop on and off at will which is the alternative.
Oh and if you fly make sure you fly to Barcelona (BCN) rather than Reus or Girona as then there is a 25 minute air-conditioned (:thup train journey (every 1/2 hr) to Placa Sants for air-conditioned (:thup metro rather than ****ing around on bus connections and hour journeys etc.
