So I would presume that the Virgin/ Setanta news thing will die down until they can gauge the success of Virgin 1.
tbf I'm behind Virgin on this.
Sky have had their cake for a long time now and someone with a bit of balls has come along (NTL had no idea or direction) and now they're quietly worried about what's going to happen next. By taking Sky 1 and SSN off Virgin was just a petulant spoilt kid reaction.
Couple this with Virgin's much better BB and telephone service and you can see a large amount of Sky's market share being eroded away.

If you have a sports package they should make sure you have it.
I am having a similar hassle here cause Prem TV rights changed to a better package (in terms of general entertainment) but the Champions League is with the previous package so you dragged over hot coals paying for it and committing to all sorts just for the pleasure. Twats
They always seem to remove channels in these cases, never turn on your TV and you got a nice new one, eh

So it looks like Setanta Sports News is going to be up and running.

The new channel will feature breaking news and live coverage of a variety of sports and will be a direct competitor to Sky Sports News.
It will also feature presenters and expert guests, while viewers will be encouraged to contribute via phone-ins, emails, blogs and competitions.
ITN will be responsible for all the daily editorial content and will work closely with Setanta Sports - which has the rights to exclusive live coverage of 46 Barclays Premier League matches a season and Scotland's Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
The ITN chief executive, Mark Wood, said: "This new channel will set the sports news agenda in Britain with exclusive news, ground-breaking interviews and programmes which will be must-see television for sports fans everywhere."
Michael O'Rourke, co-founder of Setanta Sports, added: "This channel will sit well alongside our other range of sports channels and club TV channels and also delivers on a long-held ambition to launch a sports news channel."
The new channel will initially be available to Virgin Media's 3 million digital cable TV subscribers across the UK and to a "wider base" in the early part of next year.
Although I would guess that going on Sky's previous, they will only be able to show highlights from those games owned by Setanta.
Anyway it's a start and as a Virgin customer I look forward to either having this station doing well or Sky relenting and putting SSN back on the carriage.
