I think this whole situation derives from the Virgin TV argument. Sky don't want Sky One and Sky Sports News to be available to Virgin TV - so they can't have it as part of the standard package.
The other alternative is that Sky are exploiting the fact that SSN is one of it's most popular channels, and stick it into one of it's least popular mixes to encourage people to give up with the mixes and get the whole package.
They're an evil corporation (I am a customer btw) and it's one of the reasons I welcome the competition from Virgin.
They are all a shower of gits as far as im concerned...I dont have sky or virgin as they are overpriced as hell and I was hoping a good price war would kick off, wasnt to be though.
Virgin isn't too bad imo.
There are still some problems they've inherited from NTL, but if they are serious about competing with Sky, which I am certain they are, then this will only improve.
I have Broadband, full TV and Sky Sports which costs me c£70 a month.
Not a bad deal at all.
It helps that I live in London and my home is close to a hub and so the BB access is fb and lightening quick.
SSN is sh!te outside the transfer window they should do more features during the day not just a rolling ticker of nothing, bet the editors really struggle to get enough news for one day
