Panasonic, Panasonic or Panasonic.
By far the best non-CRT manufacturers around, and have been for a number of years.

The best two 32" TV's in your price range are: Panasonic TX32LDX70
£600 from here. Sony Bravia KDL32V2500U
£600 from here.
I'd go with the Panasonic if I were you dude! |

Plasmas yes but Panasonic aren't as good as Sony on the LCDs.

BTW it's worth spending a £500 or so as the quality of TV's below this price point is often not that good.

| Well we'll just have to disagree on that point then won't we?

Panasonic Viera TX-32LXD7 is £599 and meets all of your criteria except the price (by £99!).
Superb apparently for the price.

Why are tehse TVs that cost double the price so much better than the £300 models then? I mean, is the difference in picture quality that noticeable?

That's the one (we sell it for £599 but we sell to retail outlets, not to the general public).
As for paying a bit more. There can be a marked difference in quality between TV's. We had a stall at an exhibition last year, and we had a Sony, Panasonic and Sanyo all in close proximity to each other and you could see the difference really easily between the Sony/Panasonic and the Sanyo (which was awful!).
On the other hand, there can be a degree of snobbery in AV equipment, which means that the needs of an average punter are forgotten and they're told they must go higher-end. An average customer may be happy with a half-decent mid-range TV like a Samsung or LG. Quality won't be as good as for the likes of Sony and Panasonic but, it may be good enough for you.
I guess it's like anything else - you need to find a budget, then get the best balance for your requirements based on that. Unlike a lot of things you do often get what you pay for when it comes to TV's but that doesn't mean there aren't great bargains in the cheaper models.

Just had a look through the models we sell, and our ratings/recommendations and that Panasonic is definitely the best one for quality/price balance imo.
The best comparable model we have is the Sony Bravia KDL-32U2000. Same price but not as good in our (company I work for) opinion.
