Yea I agree in part but I think one thing would lead to the other, if there was more time to develop character, storyline etc then more daring tv would be being made but then again if people were being more daring with what is available then perhaps there would be more inclinaton to fund more ambitious projects </BLOCKQUOTE>
The problem that lack of funds in the industry has is that the TV companies are too scared to take a risk (and have a show bomb even though it's cheap by US standards).
I don't think Britain lacks writing or acting talent compared to the US... but without someone prepared to greenlight risky projects, our shows will follow a formula with regards drama (things that have worked).
Prime Suspect and Cracker were superb shows... and did push the borders a bit, but we're talking nearly 2 decades ago now. </BLOCKQUOTE>
