I have this horrible, and possibly completely wrong, memory of a Cadfael episode where they nipped from Shrewsbury to Cambridgeshire in the same day - a bit tricky in the Middle Ages. Am I just imagining this?

No - you're quite right on both counts: in the series and completely impossible.

The books are very accurate (and tbf the series is by and large) but I assume it was originally written differently than shown in the series. I haven't got to that book yet.

pardon the cliche but british drama needs guts to produce greater quality, not greater quantity.

I quite enjoyed the couple of episodes of This Life I've seen, so that's a possibility (and for some reason reminded me of Cold Feet).

I've seen all of House of Cards, so that would be lower on my list. Excellent programme though.

Looking around play.com I discovered that Edge of Darkness is available on DVD - I don't think I ever saw the whole thing, so that's another possibility. Also available are A Very British Coup and Sandbaggers. This is really dating me.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

If 'day' means 24 hours, it's quite possible.
