Football Club 5 Year Plans - PR Stunt or Good Planning?
If your allow a second team of sorts then i would say Leicester would be one as its where i'm born and can easily get a ticket to view a match. I also have an affection for Notts County from my CM/FM as i start with them in career games. Both these clubs have in the past few months come out with the 'Five Year Plan' for success.
I was just wondered what you thought about them and have your club ever came out with anything as such. Clubs i remember doing include Nottingham Forest and Oxford United.
On both occasions it seem to me, not being a supporter of either club but hearing the announcements on the radio that it was nothing more than a PR stunt to get fans in the ground and by more pies, burgers, shirts etc. Also these type of plans are never good because of the pressures that it can bring and the nature of Football.

Under our previous ownership (well two previous owner's ago as Millers 05 was very short lived) we generally just trotted out vague 5 year plans around about the time season ticket renewals were due, must have been talking about the 5 year plan for at least 8 years and never got anything done.

I remember Gary Birtles on a radio phone in back around the 2003-04 season getting really angry because of Forest 5 year plan and the slogan that was coming out, WE'RE SERIOUS ABOUT PROMOTION! ARE YOU??? were trying to get people to buy expensive seaso tickets. At the time forest were selling their best players such as Harewood, Jenas, Prutton etc

In 2005 Lincoln launched a five year plan to be "Championship ready" by 2010, which essentially means the infrastructure of the club being of a Championship standard by 2010, training ground, academy, revamp of stadium and so on. It's promised nothing on the pitch though, which might be why the fans haven't exactly been excited by it.

Yeah if they employ Stalin like half time teamtalks...if you boys dont bloody well get a result from this game you're getting to sent to a siberian labour camp for 6 years.
