actually i think he was stolen tbh, i'm sure i put him in my bag, as i got off the bus the zip for my bag was open, and there was no phone. Luckily enough they didn't steal my keys, on which i have my USB key with all my bank account details (stupid... yes it is)

Perhaps it was nicked by your rival, Channel 5, for the footage?

When I lost my mobile phone and called the local Police station I was told that they don't give out crime reference numbers anymore, at least for lost/stolen mobiles.

| But doesn't your insurance company need a crime reference?
Another attempt to massage the crme figures by the police.

I work in a police control room and it basically depends on how quick you want a crime ref number.
If you want one quick go into the station. If you can't be bothered phone up and say it was stolen from your bag. They get some details from you and pass it on to the 'tel crime team', who'll phone you back and take the report over the phone. Could take 2 days though.
I'm pretty sure you can report it on-line too - www.online.met.police.uk
What ever you do, don't say you lost it.
