File > Open your file.

Then select the part of the file you want by dragging your mouse over the part you need. Then just cut out the rest.

Im still in shock at being volunteered to be Father Christmas at my kids school to be able to cope with anything technical.

Thanks Kris, I was hoping there'd be some sort of method through iTunes itself but this looks great anyway. I'll download it tomorrow when my eyes don't hurt and I'm not so tired.

I cant get this to work btw, Ive got a song, highlight a bit of it, hit play, and it sounds like an old tape rewinding.
