As for the article, some Gibson-esque industrial espionage, where someone steals a few of these ultra-luxe plants for a competing interest, would be kind of fun. (Or, better yet, introduce a crop-destroying malady into the fields.) Someone go write the movie.

As for coffee, it's far more worthwhile to educate people on how to properly brew a cuppa first, since the value of luxe beans will get diluted or lost with people who don't have proper technique. Sort of like a person storing their Chateau Rothschild in the fridge. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Been drinking some East Timorese coffee I got from the Oxfam shop... first export from there since they gained independence or somesuch.

Not bad, a little bit light on though when I prefer my coffee quite strong. Quite good flavour though.

I have a group of friends who all work/have worked in coffee shops, and to listen to them all talk about coffee is beyond painful. The amount of mutual masturbation that goes on talking about different blends and new coffee machines and how many shots they all take in the morning...it's so incredibly depressing.

They took me to see some barista competitions last year. Who gives a flying ****?

Although I drink coffee, I've made a point never to find out any details of beans or how they're roasted or anything. I just order "a latte", for fear that I may become one of them if I go any further.
