Rep Power: 0 | IMO the best shop to get coffee beans is Monmouth Coffee in Convent Garden. They roast their beans every day so most of the time you can get something very fresh.

I was going to say the same, I bought a tub recently since it was on offer and it was really nice. Was called something like Tesco Finest Colombian Coffee ice cream. Brilliant for just £2 or £3.

Yes, but they don't sell it.
And judging by their other icecream it's not something I will heartily enjoy. </BLOCKQUOTE>
most of their ice cream are terrible but the coffee one is surprisingly good. I used to stock them up when my local tesco sell them for one pound a go
Waitrose does a decent one too. i used to order it from Ocado. A bit more expensive though.

| Put the bodies somewhere else, Daaaaave. It will be too incriminating for you once they're discovered.
As for the article, some Gibson-esque industrial espionage, where someone steals a few of these ultra-luxe plants for a competing interest, would be kind of fun. (Or, better yet, introduce a crop-destroying malady into the fields.) Someone go write the movie.
As for coffee, it's far more worthwhile to educate people on how to properly brew a cuppa first, since the value of luxe beans will get diluted or lost with people who don't have proper technique. Sort of like a person storing their Chateau Rothschild in the fridge.

I heard somewhere that if you keep your coffee in the freezer it keeps fresh longer. Any truth in this at all ?

when i worked for a coffee merchants we used to advise doing this.
If you have beans they usually last a month or so in bag. upto 3 months in freezer.
Ground coffee, 2weeks in bag, upto 2months in freezer.
we keep ours in freezer, never had any problems.

after 2 months, freezing or not, almost all the essential oils sweat out through the roasting process will have evaporated, leaving you with folger's more or less. it's drinkable but no different than pre-ground canned coffee at that point.
always better off to simply buy a week's worth (2 weeks at the most) coffee at a time. don't see what the big deal is xshrug
