Influenced after reading an Oblivion thread and how securROM is a pain in the arse, and how people arent buying the game new game due to having this protection on it (which apparently has rootkits in it aswell which lead to all sorts of security issues).
Surely its having the opposite effect on what its trying to achieve? Games will always get leaked on the net and these copy protection software hacked. Bioshock was leaked onto the net a week before it came out over hear ffs. They just dont work. The people who have a legit version are the ones having trouble with them, where as the ones with dodgy copies dont have any issues and are happily playing away
Would a better idea be what SI and i think Codemasters did. Put code in the game that is executed if a dodgy version is found that makes the game unplayable (like the patch in FM2007 did where it made all your stats crap). Seems an easier and less aggressive way around it for the genuine owners
